The active ingredient in this well know over the counter medicine, pepto bismol. is bismuth subsalicylate.   There are 262 mg of the ingredient in each 15ml tablespoon of  pepto bismol. This liquid relieves heartburn, upset stomach, indigestion, nausea, and diarrhea.  However, be aware that if you are allergic to salicylates (including aspirin) do not take this product.
