Coumadin (Warfarin Sodium)



 
 
 
 
 
Coumadin is also known as Warfarin Sodium.  It is an anti-coagulating drug.  Anti-coagulation means the clotting process is slowed down, helping decrease blood clots.  Coumadin has been effective in reducing the numbers of strokes, heart attacks,  clots in the legs, and clots in the lungs

Coumadin is available in 1mg, 2mg, 2.5mg, 3mg, 4mg, 5mg, 6mg,7.5mg,and 10mg tablets, as shown to the right.  Currently Coumadin(Warfarin) is still used as rat poision in large doses, yet when monitered it can help save human lives. There are many different drug interactions you need to be aware of while taking this drug.  Some are positive while others are negative.  If taking Coumadin, you must consult with your doctor before taking any other medications.
