Calculate the shielding constant, S, and Z* for the following electrons:

a) the valence electrons in Cd

b) the 4f electrons in Hg

c) the 5d electrons in Hg

d) the valence electrons in Ru and Os.  Find the atomic radii for Ru and Os and correlate the radii with the Z*.
